About

Webstation is an experimental platform by the WEA in Stoke-on-Trent to support learning and health.

Our aim is to create a social platform to help people learn and access information more easily, whether in the local area or worldwide via the web.

Always keen to stretch a thin analogy as far as it can go, we're designing it a bit like a train station.

Our aim is to help you get to where you want to go more quickly, provide help if you’re stuck and become a gateway to new and exciting adventures. We’ve tried to avoid jargon, but if you catch us doing it please don’t be afraid to ask what we’re talking about.

The following spaces are all under development:

  • Information Boards with maps, information and directories about sources of equipment, help and support
  • The Timetable has upcoming learning opportunities, held online and in real life
  • The Reading Room is a place to relax in the warmth and read
  • The Platforms are tools that you can use to get where you want to go
  • Journeys are visual posts such as videos and presentations
  • The Coffee Shop is our social space where you can have a cup of tea and a natter (you’ll have to bring your own tea!)
Apart from what we've created ourselves, all our material is sourced from fresh, shared content from friendly online communities. We aim to showcase all that is available for free and ensure that everybody can have equal access to the internet.

Webstation is an experimental project of the WEA in Stoke-on-Trent and no views displayed here represents any official views of the WEA.
